Step Outside Your Comfort Zone - Law 3 Of Transformation

This law specifically has been showing up huge for me in the last few months. I am in a period where I can continue to live in my comfort zone, with my flexible schedules, downtime to be creative, time to keep the house in order, do yoga/teach yoga for little to no money, make an okay wage freelancing and be comfortable and happy; or I can step outside my comfort zone and increase my income by doing what I love even if it means less down time, working nights and weekends and a messy house.

We are programmed as humans to be concerned for our safety. Survival is the number one priority. It’s a crazy scary world out there and if we are concerned for our safety not sure if we can succeed out there, we are less likely to step out of the cave. We are also programmed with a fight-or-flight instinct. When a predator comes or a challenge arises, do you step up or do you hide? Either answer is fine, but take a moment to think about it and take another moment to think about if you’re okay with that. If yes, cool. I invite you to continue reading this blog and take a third moment of consideration. If you’re answer is no, let’s do this.

“THE EASY PATH LEADS TO THE HARD LIFE, BUT THE HARD PATH LEADS TO THE EASY LIFE.” – RILKE

Your comfort zone is a state of mind, body and soul that you reach out to when you are unable to deal with the pressure of the world around you. It may feel safe and warm, but it is a silent killer that is killing off your vitality and spontaneity. You are either awakening and growing or numbing out and spiraling downward. Life is not static. You either grow or you die.

Stepping out of your comfort zone means dropping your patterns and stories from the past. Let that shit go. Just because it was doesn’t mean it is. You can leave the past behind you. Yet you choose the same habitual pattern again and again. You must venture forward to grow.

“At some level, we all have this conflict within us, and it scares us. We are afraid to let go, to face the groundlessness and uncertainty, way down deep, we feel that if people saw the unmasked us, the naked us, the authentic us, they would recoil in horror. We are terrified of ourselves, so we maintain the illusions, patch the leaks, and hide.” (Baron Baptiste, 40 Days to a Personal Revolution, pg. 13)

For me, I am terrified of investing in myself financially in fear of failing and losing all of my money. I am familiar with extra stresses financial insecurity can add to life and I do not want to feel that way again. I am afraid to risk financial security to make my dreams happen. You either know right away what’s holding you back, but then again, maybe you don’t, which is why you keep repeating the same patterns. Think about your dream life. No strings attached, money isn’t an issue, job qualifications aren’t an issue, what do you want in life? Now ask yourself, why not? That answer, that hesitation, THAT is what you need to conquer.

The simplest way to put it is there cannot be a transformation without leaving your comfort zone. Period. If you want a change in your life, skydive out of your comfort zone and I’ll meet you when you land.
